Advice on planting a tree between in-ground pool and deck

I'm wanting to plant a tree in my back yard in a space about 20 feet from the concrete surround of an in-ground pool and about 10 feet away from a slightly raised wooden deck.

I live in central California where the summers average 100 degrees and winters are mild averaging about 40 degrees. The spot will get full sun for 12 hours +. I'm looking for something that will not drop fruits, flowers, or a ton of sap as I don't want to damage the pool, cement, or deck.

I'm particularly fond of Japanese Maple but have heard that they are finicky and may not appreciate the full sun. Any advice is welcome and appreciated! Thanks
