New to the sub and homeownership. My wife and I can't justify wasting hundreds of gallons of water every year on maintaining grass that dosen't grow naturally to our area. We were looking into xeriscaping as an alternative (as a rock lawn just isn't our jam.) Specifically, we're researching planting creeping thyme as an alternative due to it's drought resistance and lower maintenance schedule.
Does anyone have any experience doing the same? Our front lawn is about 80'X30' and our budget is not too large, as we'd like to stay under $1000 (if that's even possible.)
We do 100% of the work on our home ourselves and are very handy so labor costs aren't a concern.
